Text for Your Neck

I just found this scarf featured on the Craft blog.

Since we are big fan’s of *text t-shirts here at Spreadshirt, I thought this was worth sharing.  I really like  the way the letter look when they are smooshed together like they are in the scarf.  I think you could so some really great t-shirt designs with some text like that. I want that on a t-shirt… less cowbell, more accordion

One of the fun parts about Spreadshirt is that when someone says “I want that on a t-shirt…” you can visit Spreadshirt.com, create the shirt and send it to them for usually less than $20-25. A few weeks ago I was at the Shadow Lounge, which is a great local Pittsburgh bar/performance venue. I like to visit the Shadow Lounge because the owner is often seen wearing an IheartPGH t-shirt that we gave him last last year. It happened to be a bonus night as the band Slavic Soul Party was in town from Brooklyn, NY for the opening of the Carnegie International exhibit and they decided to stop by the Shadow Lounge for another performance. I bumped into my old friend Andrew, who I know because I have been running into Andrew at various interesting places around Pittsburgh for the past 4 years.

While listening to Slavic Soul Party - which is an awesome assortment of tubas, horns, drums and more and they play an amazingly awesome assortment of music - Andrew and I were commenting on the different instruments, I was quite impressed by the accordion player.  At some point Andrew said “less cowbell, more accordion” and something about a t-shirt. So after I arrived home I made that t-shirt a reality. The shirt was easy to create - I just picked 2 different fonts and kept it simple with the text. Andrew was happy to find this on his desk a few days later. Here is the end result…

New Design Pricing for Vectors and Text

We have simplified pricing for vector designs and text. Here is Temple’s post from the forum with the details:

Many of you have talked about complexity charges, specialty color charges, etc and wanted to see some changes….well we have some good news for you. Within the next couple days, we will be changing pricing for vectors.

ALL vector designs, regardless of complexity will be $3. There will be no additional charges for complex or super complex designs. Two and three colored designs will remain the same pricing, so a two color design will be $5.50 and three color will still be $9.

ALL flex and flock colors will be priced the same, so there will be no additional charge to glitter, glow in the dark, sparkle, metallics, etc. No matter what vector design you choose and color, the price will be $3 for a one color vector, barring any design commission of course.

One last thing…Text up to 5 lines will be $3, so you can print one line or five lines and the price will remain the same at $3. If you add an additional design or additional text box, then as it is now it will be an additional $3.

Digital Design pricing will remain the same. At this time, we are expecting to fully launch this on the 17th. When we do launch, then your existing products will change to reflect the new pricing, so product pricing will go down for products that are using complex, super complex, specialty flex, metallic flex, or two or more lines of text in the same text box. All other product pricing will remain the same, since those designs would not be affected.

tips-on-text

Tips on Text

Some of the best looking t-shirts that come through Spreadshirt are the simple ones that have just text. With different fonts and colors there are endless combinations of creative ways to use words to create good looking t-shirts.

Here are some of our tips for text t-shirts…

  • Less is more - Too much text is hard to read
  • People cannot read small font
  • Keep text near the top… lots happen at the bottom
  • Location, location, location
    • Front… message in their face, graphics work well
    • Back… give people something to read while standing in line
    • Sleeves… something different

Here is one of the text t-shirts from my shop, I really like doing the text t-shirts in flock.

What is your favorite text t-shirt?
