Happy Birthday Facebook!

Thanks to the Blog Herald for their post on Facebook’s fifth birthday. It seems like facebook has been around for many more than 5 years. Mashable includes a look at how the Facebook profile has changed over the past 5 years.

I thought I would use this happy occasion to remind you to be a fan of Spreadshirt on Facebook! Also, if you are shop partner and have a fan page/group for your shop please share the link here so we can be a fan of you too.

We want to show off your finished Spreadshirt items here on the blog!

Check Out the New Spreadshirt Marketplace & Homepage

Today we have launched a new look for Spreadshirt.com and we wanted to give you an update about some of these exciting changes.

Products Instead of Designs
Instead of designs, we are now showing off products in the marketplace. Items are organized by gender and type - men, women, babies & kids and accessories.

Search & Filter
The search and filter function is the perfect match for the departments: just look for a topic, design or product. The search function includes a filter on the results page as well as a filter for misspellings.

Simplified Commission Model
After careful consideration we’ve decided to drop the product commission - for two reasons: first, it would confuse customers and cause “jumping prices” (if you buy a “premade” product in the MP it would have a different price then if you would have personalized the same product in the designer). Also, we saw that the product commission wasn’t heavily used anyway. That’s why we decided to simplify the commission structure: as a designer, you make your cut by just adjusting the design commission.

New Homepage
Included in the makeover is a new look for our homepage. It’s more dynamic and makes it easier for us to show what Spreadshirt is about: customized apparel.

What did we keep?

  • The Designer - The look and feel of the designer is the same. Customers can still choose their design and apparel directly from the designer.
  • The old marketplace a.k.a. “Design Network” - It’s there as well - but we have moved it over to the login area. So if you are interested in grabbing a design for your Spreadshop you can select the design from the product detail page or from the login area.

The Spreadshirt Blog Turns 2

Happy Birthday Spreadshirt Blog. I was so busy blogging that I almost forgot about the blogs’ birthday! August 22 is the anniversary of the Spreadshirt blog. 2 years and 814 posts later I still love blogging about t-shirts. Back in July of 2006 someone left a comment on my blog about this company Spreadshirt. I was happy to find a better place to sell t-shirts and I never thought it would lead to all of the fun and learning. I hope you have enjoyed reading as much as I have enjoyed writing about t-shirts, Spreadshirt and just fun things on the internet. As always I welcome your feedback - please let me know what you would like to see more of on the blog.

I was hoping I could find another blog birthday cake picture like the one I used for last years birthday post. No luck but I did find this one and there are some great pictures of cake on flickr - after spending the past 20 minutes looking at cake - I think I may need to take a little walk to the neighborhood cupcake shop.

Dive In to the Spreadshirt Flickr Photo Pool

View from the starting block of a competition ...Image via Wikipedia Sorry - I couldn’t resist the cheesy summer joke. I am so not ready for summer to be over and I need to spend a few more afternoons by a pool - for now I will just blog about pools. This is a different kind of pool - the Spreadshirt Photo Pool on Flickr. If you are on Flickr - please share you pictures with us in the Spreadshirt photo pool - we really want to see what you look like in your shirts. Include a link to your shop - it is a great easy way to promote your shop too.

Pictures from Our Summer Party - BBQ and Mechanical Bull Riding

Last Friday we gathered up team Spreadshirt for a western themed party to celebrate summer and the 1 year anniversary of the Spreadshirt production facility in Greensburg, PA.  We had a great dinner of bbq chicken and ribs and lots of other great pot luck treats.

In keeping with the theme of the evening our Spreadshirt party planner extraordinaries had a mechanical bull set up for the party.

Here are some of Spreadshirt’s most wanted…

Pot Lucky

To celebrate the warm weather we brought out the grill for a company wide potluck bbq lunch here at Spreadshirt.  Everyone brought some tasty treats and Ben and Steve did a great job with the grill.
