PodCamp Hawaii Sets Up Shop with Spreadshirt

I am a big big fan of PodCamp. My friend Dave first introduced me to PodCamp in 2006 for the first PodCamp Pittsburgh. Click here to see my previous post about PodCamp Pittsburgh 2006. I have met alot of great people through podcamp and we have met some great new shop partners through podcamp too.

I was extra excited to see that PodCamp Hawaii has set up a shop with Spreadshirt. One of my best friends has recently moved back to Honolulu and I am planning a return visit there soon. I wonder if I can make it there for PodCamp Hawaii which will be held in Honolulu October 24-25, 2008.

Place Specific T-shirts - Put Your Spreadshirt Shop on the Map

I am loving the new feature on Google Maps that lets your create your own map. I have just created this map about Local Fabric Shops and it has been fun to see what local fabric shops people have been suggesting. So I was thinking this would be a great way to display some of our Spreadshirt shops that are about a place.

So here it is - the big bad map of Spreadshirt Shops. Of course I started with IheartPGH and I also added a St. Louis Shop - StLouieLouie.com  I need your help to fill up the rest of this map.  shirtmap.jpgDoes your Spreadshirt shop sell shirts that promote a place?

  • cities
  • towns
  • establishments - restaurants, parks, museums
  • bands

Anything associated with a place - we want to add your shop to the map. Please leave your shop and its location as a comment or send me an email. I will add new shops to the map. I hope we can fill this up with a country of city loving t-shirts.

Cool Tips from Cool Tools

Ami (he writes for the German Spreadshirt blog) sent me a link to this article from a shop partner with 5 ideas for promoting your Spreadshirt shop. Here is a summary of the 5 ideas, click here to read the entire article.

  1. Create a myspace/facebook/linkedin profile for your website and add people you know.
  2. Buy one of your own shirts out of the shop.
  3. Do something newsworthy while wearing your shirt.
  4. Post on T-shirt and clothing line blogs.
  5. If your flat out broke, Look for something in your household you’d be willing to part with for free.

Ami, found this via Summize.com - which is an awesome little site that lets you search Twitter. I just did a search for IheartPGH and found all sorts of interesting stuff. I am adding the Summize feed for a search on Spreadshirt to my google reader right now. I think this is also a cool way to see what people are saying about hot topics on twitter. I might just try a search for Obama, Clinton and McCain to see whats happening in the presidential race.

cinch-sack-knitting-bag

Cinch Sack Knitting Bag

Earlier this year I wrote about some of the many uses for the very versatile cinch sack.  One of those uses is the knitting bag.  I like that you can leave your yarn in the bag and cinch the sack while you knit - which works perfectly to keep your yarn from getting tangled.

The post inspired Gladditudes to add this cute “Chicks with Stix” design to their shop.

There are quite a few knitting bloggers out there who have blogged about their favorite knitting bags.  Which come in all ranges of prices.  I think the cinch sack is just the right size to take a knitting project with you.   The price is right too - the “Chicks with Stix” bag is $16.

New Feature for Products…Editing!

I know this has been one feature we have received a ton of requests for - edit and existing product. The wait is over, let the editing begin. Temple announced the arrival of product editing in the forums today, here are the details:

Today we released a new feature in the Shop Admin for your products. You can now edit an existing product or clone a product! Products can be altered for your shop or the Marketplace independently or both at the same time.

Editing a product to for replacement:

If you edit your product in the ?Product Overview? screen, it will be altered in both your shop and within the Marketplace (assuming that your product has been opened in both areas).

Here?s how it works:: Your original product is deleted and replaced by the new product (e.g. with a new color or alternate design). The editable attributes given to the old product (i.e. the commission rate, product name, etc) are automatically transferred to the new product. The product will get moved to the top of the ?Product Overview? list the same as every new product.

Editing a product to create a new version:

Please remember this will change your product in all areas. If you would prefer to change the product in just one of the selling areas (i.e. in your shop OR the marketplace) then simply use the small blue ?My Products? drop-down menu to the top left of the product overview screen and select either your shop or the marketplace.

If you want create new version of a pre-existing product WITHOUT deleting the original, then click on the ‘Clone Product’ option. A copy of the product will be provided which you can then change according to your desires. Great for creating the same design layout on different products, colors, etc!

Let me know if you have any questions!

BACN makes People Magazine

I posted about this back in August - during PodCamp Pittsburghbacn.jpg (which was attended by a few of us from Spreadshirt) a number of smart, geek loving people created the term Bacn. In short BACN = Email you want - But not right now.

The term BACN took off like hotcake (breakfast pun intended) and started popping up around the web every where.   According to the blog TechBurgh bacn has made the pages of the Feb 08 People magazine.  Congratulations to the bacn crew on this prestigious accomplishment.

Check out the official bacn website here: Bacn2.com and of course bacn t-shirts too -http://bacn.spreadshirt.com

Click here to see a video about BACN - Spreadshirt’s own graphics guru Jesse is the guy on the left.

People are Digging this Obama T-shirt - Say no more!

Black with gold is one of my favorite color combinations.

The blog post about this t-shirt is getting some Diggs. I have noticed that campaign t-shirts have been getting lots of traffic from StumbleUpon. If you have campaign shirts in your shop you might want to submit them to StumbleUpon, Digg or some of the other social sites out there. We have been checking out a new social shopping site - Kaboodle - I am just learning to use it but it has a nice Firefox extension.

This shop partner took an existing graphic and improved it with custom text. You can find thousands of graphics to use in your shop in the marketplace. When you find a design you want to use to create products in your shop - just click the link on the left side that says “add to my shop.”

Compliments to the Shop

Fantastic Blognanza (one of my favorite t-shirt blogs) included Spreadshirt Shop Partner, Valle del Sol, in their post “This Week in T-shirts”

Valle del Sol: intricate tribal designs printed on organic t-shirts from one the nicest Spreadshirt shops I’ve ever seen.

Valle del Sol has some great designs…
I am a big fan of this tote

I think this shirt is really clever too
