Elvis Ranch $6.5 Million, Headline T-shirt of Elvis Ranch for $15

The ranch that was once owned by Elvis Presley and is now called the Elvis Ranch by the residents of Horn Lake, Mississippi is for sale. Elvis bought the place a few months before he married Priscilla in 1967.  Priscilla and Elvis spent some time there after they were married.  You can purchase the 154.5 acre ranch for $6.5 Million.   GoogleEarthHacks has photo of the ranch here.

I was hoping to find some more history about the ranch but there doesn’t seem to much info beyond what is in the CNN report here.

If $6.5 Million is a little out of your price range you can order the CNN headline t-shirt for just $15.

put-pocketing-have-you-found-some-extra-cash-in-your-pocket

Put-pocketing - have you found some extra cash in your pocket?

I was browsing some of the recent CNN t-shirts and came across this headline - “Reverse pickpocket doles out money” from 8/25/2009. Rather than steeling money - these guys are putting money in peoples pockets.

A British phone company, TalkTalk, has hired some former pickpockets to promote thier lower rates by putting money in peoples pockets. Read more about the putpocketing at Adverblog and Walletpop.

Another great little video story about a twist on the pickpocket - Jeanne Moos (I do love her stories!) looks at the idea of put pocketing.

Evolution of the T-Shirt

It’s been burned, washed, stoned, dipped in acid, discarded and rediscovered, even shot.

I am probably not the only one out there who has trouble keeping up with their Google Reader. So when Tobias asked me if I had recently checked American Apparel’s “Daily Update” blog, I scrolled down to come across a link to NY Mag’s Fall fashion piece by Hugo Lindgren entitled T-Shirt by Darwin.

The article deals with the well-known and oft-mentioned James Dean-sian beginnings of the t-shirt, but focuses much on the recent developments of the tee, much of them coupled with new techniques and technology. Many have perhaps heard of stone-washing, garmet-dying, faux-fading, but the article goes into detail about some pretty cool and interesting techniques: continue reading ‘Evolution of the T-Shirt’

CNN Headline Shirt of the Week: King of Pop’s hair will create diamonds

michael jackson's hair will create diamonds CNN headline t-shirt

This is one of the more interesting CNN Headline t-shirts I have seen. When I first saw the headline I was hoping it was going to be some sort of retrospective on Michael Jackson’s haircuts over the years. He had many different styles - and I have dound that most people have a strong opinion on which one they preferred.

But there really is a way to turn hair into diamonds - and I learned quite a lot of interesting facts from this video. I have to say I am a fan of Jeanie Moos - she does a good job of asking questions on these segments too.

The company, LifeGem, can create diamonds out of human hair. The hair that they will use to create this diamond came from the infamous Pepsi commercial shoot where Michael Jackson’s hair caught on fire. There is a guy, John Reznikoff, who is the world leading hair collector - check out this video from the Wall Street Journal about his hair collection - which is actually pretty interesting - especially if you are a history buff. Reznikoff recently teamed up with LifeGem to create a diamond from Beethoven’s hair.
