Some Creative Beer Gear from the Steel City Big Pour - T-shirts and T-shirt Totes too!

Last month I attended the Steel City Big Pour - which is an annual beer tasting fundraiser for Construction Junction. Construction Junction is a pretty cool non profit organization here in Pittsburgh, PA that serves as a clearing house for extra building supplies an architectural elements. Looking for an old door or a clawfoot bath tub then Construction Junction is your place. They resell the extra materials - keeping them out of the landfill and helping DIY home owners save some money on their projects.  Over 30 breweries set up a tasting tables and distribute samples of beer during the Steel City Big Pour. There are also lots of tasty food from some of my favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh.

One of the first things I noticed after we walked in to the event were t-shirts. Brewers and drinkers love to wear their beer gear.

So here are a few of the photos of Beer Gear I snapped at the event - there are some great designs, uses of text, clever word play in these shirts.

Erie Brewing Company’s Scare Up an Eerie Craft Beer

Beer gear is not limited to just t-shirts and hats. Mountain State Brewing’s Beer Gear includes a thong and a beer glass plus savings if you but them together.

I thought this t-shirt from Bocktown Beer & Grill was pretty cool - nice use of text on a t-shirt.

and here is Father Spoon who is 1/2 of the dou behind the beer lovers podcast Should I Drink That (www.shouldidrinkthat.com) demonstrating his better beer face.

In fact the SIDT crew has their own t-shirt from the Spreadshirt shop partner WearPittsburgh (http://wearpittsburgh.spreadshirt.com/) - the shirt is really cool - I love that the guy has beer mugs for earphones.

Here is a photo of both Sick Puppy and Father Spoon modeling their Spreadshirt shirts at last weeks Podcamp Pittsburgh.

And I have to show you the baby beer gear too. East End Brewing (www.eastendbrewing.com) is a local brewery here in Pittsburgh - their main beer is called Big Hop - so they made up these for the babies of the beer drinkers.

One of the other cool things about this event is that it was zero waste - all of the plates, napkins, cups and food scrapes were composted or recycled. Continuing with the recycling theme - they had these awesome t-shirt bags on sale a the merchandise table.

Take one old t-shirt, sew the bottom, and they added a hand screen printed patch with the Big Pour logo. I think this is a really great idea for reusing old t-shirts. I choose this bright green but they had these t-shirt bags in many different colors too.

The creativity was not just limited to t-shirts at the event - part of the fundraiser is a raffle of custom kegerators decorated by local artists and they also had some really cool chain saw carving demonstrations too.

There are tons more great beer t-shirts in the Spreadshirt marketplace here. What is your favorite beer gear? Do you have a favorite brewery t-shirt?
