As some of you might have read on laFraise’s blog, the winner of one of the largest online design competition prizes ever awarded was announced yesterday. As you can see from the 12 finalists, there was some tough competition to rake in the €15,000.
Can you take the suspense?
You’ll find the winner after the click (drum-roll please, trumpets blare):
Piu-piu with her Elephant Gum design! This balanced and detailed design has a lot going on in it. Its fantastical and comical dimensions wonderfully break all laws of bubblegum physics. The pastel colors are subtly attractive, as is the impending doom that the bird is about to unleash upon the scene. I also love contrasts found in the carefree expression on the elephant, the surprised look of the pink bird and the malicious stare of the orange bird.

For those who might not be as in touch with their feminine side to wear this design, they can check out the laFraise blog for the men’s version.
In addition to winning the big prize, PIU PIU’s design will be printed on a 120×120 cm canvas and be displayed in the West Berlin Gallery from 11th to 27th September. The other 11 finalists will also be displayed on 80×80 cm in the gallery along with 40 other 15K submissions on 40×40 cm. Who said t-shirt design wasn’t art?
If that isn’t enough, laFraise also chose 4 of the other finalists for a classic print. So if your favorite wasn’t chosen as the winner, you might still have a chance to get your hands on one of them.
