The blog is gone, but Pittgirl lives on in t-shirts

The death of The Burgh Blog has been big news in the Pittsburgh blogs and media. The Burgh Blog was one of my favorite blogs and a well loved blog here in Pittsburgh written by the anonymous blogger PittGirl. Last week she shut the blog down and removed all of the archives. Spreadshirt shop partner Wear Pittsburgh had created a limited edition t-shirt for PittGirl last year that was very popular (the t-shirt even made the newspaper). Now that The Burgh Blog is gone, Wear Pittsburgh is back with a new t-shirt to commemorate PittGirl.

The end of  The Burgh Blog made big news here in Pittsburgh last week.  Wear Pittsburgh’s founder Mike has put together a nice round up of what people had to say about the end of The Burgh Blog here. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette published two different articles about the end of her blog which you can read here and here. While the blog is gone - she has been posting occasional updates on twitter, not the same thing as the blog but you can get a taste of her humor.

Thanksgiving T-shirts: Plymouth Rocks

With Thanksgiving just a week away I thought I would take a look at the Spreadshirt marketplace for some Turkey Day t-shirts. Check out this shirt from olivertees.

Plymouth Rocks

It is well documented that the Pilgrims came to the new world for religious freedom, but few understand their ulterior motives to rock. Yes, it has been found that when the Pilgrims weren’t shooting turkeys or attaching buckles to any piece of clothing they could find, they were rocking out and chasing groupies. This t-shirt commemorates that spirit and hopes to give you the same success the Pilgrims did with the ladies, because after all, they did have a whole continent to populate.

Boston Globe Article on Spreadshirt CEO Jana Eggers

Check out this great article in today’s Boston Globe, Creativity Suits Her to a T, a nice profile on our CEO Jana Eggers.  When I first started at Spreadshirt - I never wore t-shirts to work, especially not printed t-shirts.  I think the only time I have ever seen Jana wear anything other than a Spreadshirt shirt was the first day she came to Spreadshirt.  Now I wear t-shirts all the time and I am constantly checking out other people’s t-shirts too.

Why this is a good campaign T-shirt

I know election day is over and now we can finally take a break from all politics all the time. CNN ran this segment about election overload - one woman sent in an interview - she said she had to go swimming because that was the only way she could stay away from the news - this ireport clip is great too.

But this t-shirt at TeeCycle caught my eye.

Here are a few reasons why I think this makes a good campaign t-shirt:

  • logo is large - if you are trying to get a message across - it is much better to put your logo large, and in the front
  • url on the back - easy way for people to find out more about the candidate
  • easy to read - the text on the front and back is easy to read
  • color - a bright color makes this shirt stand out

What do you think makes a good campaign t-shirt?
