This is begging for a t-shirt.

I was just emailed this little video commercial from MoveOn’s Obama Commercial Contest.  It is pretty funny - but all I could think about while watching was this needs to be a t-shirt.  Just a simple text t-shirt.  So I am putting this challenge out to you - show me what you can do with the 4 letters - H O P E and a t-shirt.  I will feature the best ones here on the blog.

i-want-that-on-a-t-shirt-less-cowbell-more-accordion

I want that on a t-shirt… less cowbell, more accordion

One of the fun parts about Spreadshirt is that when someone says “I want that on a t-shirt…” you can visit Spreadshirt.com, create the shirt and send it to them for usually less than $20-25. A few weeks ago I was at the Shadow Lounge, which is a great local Pittsburgh bar/performance venue. I like to visit the Shadow Lounge because the owner is often seen wearing an IheartPGH t-shirt that we gave him last last year. It happened to be a bonus night as the band Slavic Soul Party was in town from Brooklyn, NY for the opening of the Carnegie International exhibit and they decided to stop by the Shadow Lounge for another performance. I bumped into my old friend Andrew, who I know because I have been running into Andrew at various interesting places around Pittsburgh for the past 4 years.

While listening to Slavic Soul Party - which is an awesome assortment of tubas, horns, drums and more and they play an amazingly awesome assortment of music - Andrew and I were commenting on the different instruments, I was quite impressed by the accordion player.  At some point Andrew said “less cowbell, more accordion” and something about a t-shirt. So after I arrived home I made that t-shirt a reality. The shirt was easy to create - I just picked 2 different fonts and kept it simple with the text. Andrew was happy to find this on his desk a few days later. Here is the end result…

Marketing Week: A Day in the Life of Jana Eggers

Marketing Week has a nice little interview with Spreadshirt CEO Jana Eggers. I like this interview because it highlights some of the things that Jana thinks about and how Spreadshirt is team oriented. I don’t get to see Jana as often as I would like because she really does a lot of travel.  Spreadshirt’s home offices are in Germany so she is often traveling there.  I do really enjoy her presentations because Jana makes sure to talk about the projects that are happening all around Spreadshirt where teams of people are working together on projects to make it faster and easier for our customers to order great t-shirts.

I have avoided blogging about how great it is too work at Spreadshirt because honestly, I felt like it would be kind of overdoing it. This is the Spreadshirt blog so of course I am pro-Spreadshirt. I think that one of the good things about working at Spreadshirt is the team here at Spreadshirt. This interview is also a great look at some of the cool projects that Spreadshirt has been working on.

A Pittburgh White Out - Hockey and T-Shirts

I didn’t get to see the first playoff game but thanks to my grandfather I was reminded that this play-off game was also t-shirt newsworthy. Even if you are not a sports fan, it is hard not to get wrapped up in sports fever here in Pittsburgh. I know I have mentioned that football is a big BIG big deal in Pittsburgh. Every Sunday is like a little city wide party when it is football season. Well it is hockey time in Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Penguins are in the playoffs - each hockey game is a chance to gather with friends (or strangers) and enjoy some city pride.

To boost the excitement of the home games the Penguins have called for a whiteout. The team handed out white t-shirts to all fans that attended the game last Friday. I must say it does create an amazing visual effect to have all of the fans in the same color.

I was really curious to find out what is printed on those shirts but I couldn’t find a close picture of the t-shirts so I had to head to ebay. These shirts are already being sold as collectors items. pghpenstshirt.JPG

Not to be outdone, philly had all of their fans in orange.

This blogger commented that Penn State fans wore their own white t-shirts and Penguins fans are being handed t-shirts.

The white out was successful and the Pittsburgh Penguins are headed to the Stanley Cup playoffs.  Time to create some Stanley Cup T-shirts!

Movie T’s: Notting Hill

We accidentally discovered this little gem of a scene featuring on of our favorite stars, I am not talking celebrities, I am talking about the always handsome t-shirt. Enjoy!

Inspired by Tatoos, United on the Spreadshirt forums

Well the forum has not yet resulted in any actual marriages, but it has created a great partnership for these 2 designers.  Jay from VanTribe.com met Vic from Tat2Ts.com on the Spreadshirt forums and they have partnered together to create some great designs for their shops.  Both Jay and Vic have a unique style and a love for tatoo inspired art.  Check out the designs they have created for each others shops.

T-shirt The Vote: Presidential T-shirt News - McCainics & Clinton Competition

If MTV can rock the vote, then we are going to t-shirt the vote. We are big fans of using t-shirts to express yourself. There are a lot of people expressing a love (or hate) for the presidential candidates. Here are a few things happening in the world of Presidential candidate t-shirts…

  • McCainiac - Bryant has created some great gear inspired by McCain’s appearance on WFF. Check out his blog, Errorless.com, and shop.
  • Hillary Presents - PROJECT T-SHIRT - move over Heidi Klum, it is time for team Hillary to create the best new runway fashions. Hillary Clinton is holding a contest for people to design her next t-shirt. Entries are due May 15, 2008 at 12:00 AM EST. More info at HillaryClinton.com/tshirt (Check out the comments on this post for some t-shirt slogan ideas - many of these would look great in white text on a color shirt)

Temple’s Tip for May: Vector Pricing

templestips.jpg

Each month Temple puts together her best tips for your Spreadshirt shop for our newsletter. Past newsletters and tips are available here.

Vectors, Complexity, Specialty flex… Oh My! All with different pricing and combinations can be a bit confusing, so we have good news for you! New pricing!

Currently, vectors are priced based on the complexity level assigned to the design when approved by the Design Team. Each design is given a complexity level of simple, intricate, or super intricate and based on these levels a vector price will increase, and then add on two and three colors and pricing gets more complex!
