It definitely pays to have a very specific target audience. For example, one of my shops sells designs that only fans of the show they were inspired from would be interested in. I’ve done fairly meager amounts of advertising through social networking and blogging and somehow within a month and a half of opening that shop I am reaching lots of fans! Sure, not making enough to retire, but by far I’m having more success than I ever had during the 3 years I had previously been with CP trying to peddle various unrelated designs.
A good niche is priceless!
