Facinating Leap Year Facts (and a t-shirt too)

February 29, only comes once every 4 years.

Here are some interesting Leap Year websites:

  • Anthony, Texas/ New Mexico Chamber of Commerce
    • Anthony, Texas/New Mexico is the Leap Year Capital of the world. They have hosted a Leap Year festival every 4 years since 1998. (I am still trying to figure out if Anthony is in Texas or New Mexico).
  • LeapYearDay.com
    • Is a site all about February 29
    • Includes a listing of Leap Year Celebrations all over the world.
    • I learned that American actor and rapper Ja Rule was born on February 29

Of course there are t-shirts to celebrate.

Shirt.woot (I think this is a t-shirt contest, but their website is kind of complicated) held a leap year contest.

Here is the winning shirt, I don’t think you can buy one right now, but they may be re-released at some point.

Social Networking for Some T-shirts

I was very excited to read about Rumplo on Fantastic Blognanza.  Rumplo is a social networking site for t-shirts - you can save and share your favorite t-shirts, see new shirts, leave comments on shirts and share with your friends on Rumplo.  The site is really well designed and very easy to use.  I also like how easy it is to add a t-shirt to Rumplo - just submit the url and it does the rest.  But then a roadblock, Rumplo does not accept t-shirts from Spreadshirt!

Here is their explaination:

After initially allowing submissions from on-demand printers we’ve stopped. We found the kind of shirts submitted from on-demand printers were of markedly different styles than the community of independent t-shirt shops that we created Rumplo to serve. And Cafepress and other services like it already provide many of the tools Rumplo offers, as well as a community of sorts, so we decided to focus on serving t-shirt artisans and shops that don’t have these tools available to them.

I am saddened by this because I know that Spreadshirt has some amazing t-shirt designs and that our flex flock printing is as good as (and often better than screen printing).  So Rumplo is cool, but is limited in its selection of cool t-shirts.

The Smallest Spreadshirt - Meet Hannibal

johnnysrat.JPGWhile we don’t currently offer this tiny t-shirt for sale, I did want to share this picture of one of Spreadshirt pets in his custom t-shirt.  Meet Johnny’s pet rat Hannibal in his Spreadshirt t-shirt.  We have been testing out some tiny t-shirts and have a few hanging up for decoration.  Hannibal is wearing his to celebrate 2008.

Despite his name, Hannibal is very sweet and loving, He just loves to sleep on our lap and or shoulder, and made no fuss about being a Spreadshirt model.

You can customize a Spreadshirt for your pet with the doggie t-shirt that is currently available in white and pink.

Shiny Shamrock

You probably already know that Spreadshirt offers flex and flock printing, but you may not know that we even have some rhinestone designs too.  Just in time for the greenest holiday of them all - we bring to you the Rhinestone Shamrock.  Now you can show your Irish pride in dazzling style.

Click Here to go to the rhinestone shamrock in the marketplace.

I think this looks snazzy on the side of the distressed hoodie.

In the Bag - Ideas for the Cinch Sack

cinchsacprodukt6.jpgOne of the items that is currently included in the winter clearance sale is the amazing Cinch Sack.  I have a few of these handy bags and I have discovered that they have many more uses than just a basic backpack.  So here are just a few of my favorite uses for this bag, please add your ideas too.  Order one or two or more before they are gone.  Check out the picture below - I think it does a good job of showing the fluffiness of the flock on the bag.

  • Back Pack - I know this is kind of an obvious one, the Cinch Sack makes a great light weight bag to take with you on a walk or hike.  It is the perfectr size for a bottle of water, keys, camera, etc.  I took mine on the StepTrek last fall.  It does all the work of a fanny pack, but is a lot less dorky.
  • Sneaker Bag - Use the Cinch Sack all the time to put my dirty sneakers in, keeps other things clean and you can through the Cinch Sack in the wash when it gets to dirty.
  • Dirty Gym Clothes - Take it from me - plastic grocery bags are not the solution to this problem.  I often shower and get dressed for the day at the gym so I am left with a sweaty t-shirt and shorts.  I don’t want to just put the dirty clothes in my bag.  At first I would put them in a grocery bag - which led to some mold, especially if you leave it there for a few days.  Solution - the Cinch Sack I keep one in the gym bag - dirty gym clothes go into the Cinch Sack and then I can take the whole thing right to the laundry room.  Keeps the dirty separate from the clean but allows everything to breath.  (Never did I think I would have the opportunity to blog about dirty laundry in such detail).
  • Travel Knitting Bag - The Cinch Sack is hand down the best knitting bag I have tried.  Zip-lock bags are okay but the needles poke through the plastic.  An added bonus to the Cinch Sack is that you can keep your yarn in your bag while you are knitting and cinch the bag - this keeps the yarn from getting tangled while you are working on it.

What do you use your cinch sack for?
