Each year the folks at PNC bank figure out exactly how much the 12 days of Christmas actually costs. They have been keeping track of this for the past 23 years and now call it The Christmas Price Index. I have seen this in years past and I must say that this years Christmas Price Index has a spiffy website with video and even games for the kids. I remember when it was just a powerpoint.

The “Christmas Price Index”
is an index of the current costs of one set of each of the gifts given by the True Love to the singer of the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas”The “True Cost of Christmas”
is the cumulative cost of all the gifts with the repetitions listed in the song.
This is kind of a cool and fun way to look at US economics over the past 23 years.

You can visit the website - www.pncchristmaspriceindex.com - to learn more about The Christmas Price Index. One of the interesting things that they mention on the website is the impact of the internet on the price index.
And after reading all of this I find my self sitting here humming “4 calling birds, 3 french hens, 2 turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree.”
