The New Spreadshirt User Area

(This is a repost of from the Spreadshirt UK Blog - Adam did such a great job describing the new user area, I wanted to make sure we shared this info about THE NEW SPREADSHIRT with our US friends too!)

This is an introduction to the new admin system. Some of the partners who tested the new beta asked us about the restructuring of the Shopadmin and why we structured a whole relaunch project around it.
Well, first of all the reason why we did a big relaunch is simple: the last major update of the site was 2 years ago and in the meantime basically everything has changed. Not only externally with the wide spread adoption of virtual communities, blogging, social commerce and other technologies usually labeled as “web 2.0″, but also in the types of people that want and our using our service.
Spreadshirt is now 5 years old, it was about time to completely rework the site, adapt new features and build up a common basis for further development. So with the relaunch the new Spreadshirt site has reached an important milestone, but it’s not finished - it just the start of a whole new platform and era.

We tried to fit the needs of all shop partners, our power users and those just starting out. With the introduction of the marketplace the shop is no longer the single focus of User Area. So we had to change it to show the different options you now have available.

Top Level Navigation

The main navigation has moved from the left to the top. Its expanded to show all the different areas now available. Partners with more than one shop should feel comfortable managing several shops at once. Partners who just started should find the right place to upload a design and create a product.

We knew that the original open a shop process was a little complex, because of all the options you had available. Now we’ve offered a shop creation wizard to simplify and guide you through this process.

The Assistant

A number of you requested an even easier way to promote and sell just a design. That’s why you don’t even need to set up a Spreadshop anymore: By using the marketplace you can offer your designs for sale without actually “running” a Spreadshop. Why could this be a good thing?

* Well you need less IT knowledge to use our service
* If you’re a designer you can offer your graphics up to those that already have an established shop. You bring the design flair, they bring the traffic and customer base.
* You can submit and walk away, the marketplace will do the rest.

Submit to Marketplace

This changes things slightly, as now you have first upload a design, then decide on its use. That’s the reason why we also separated the Product administration from the Shop administration. Will it just be a design for the marketplace? Or will you combine it with something from our assortment and make a product for your shop or the marketplace?

Its fun to connect. Your public profile is the gateway to all your work. Show your creations, your stores your favorite designs and products. Show your interests, connect with like-minded people and get exposure for your work and shops.

The screenshot above shows my public profile. There I can add links to my stores and showcase my products. My private profile shows more detailed information about my sales and account history.
