Flock is just super cool and I don’t talk about it enough. I was just reading through some blog posts about Spreadshirt - thanks to all of you who write such nice things about us. Over on LiveJournal Gobi was writing about Spreadshirt and put up a description of flock, so I thought I would go ahead and repost our description of flock here:
What is Flock Print Type?
A polyurethane backed material that has a raised fuzzy texture. Heat pressed at 354 degrees the material permanently adheres to the fibers of the garments. Flock is guaranteed not to fade or crack for up to 18 months. Ideal for certain designs or text that only contain one color. Available in 13 colors.
The way I usually describe flock is “that fuzzy retro print that you would find on t-shirts from the 1980;s, but way better because Spreadshirt flock doesn’t peel off.” My friend Genny and I once discovered some flock & glitter iron on letters at Wallmart, which of course we bought and went home to customize our shirts. I really wish I knew about Spreadshirt, because it took us forever to get those darn letters on to that shirt (who knew you had to prewash the t-shirts, use 3 irons and have a 9 text books to keep those letters on) and after 2 washings half of the letters were peeling off. I have tried to peel the flock off of a Spreadshirt shirt - you can’t do it. We have some experts in QC (thats our code for Quality Control) they won’t let your shirt leave the building if your design looks like it would peel off.
