Should we shut off the internet for 5 minutes?

Will shutting off the internet save energy? That is what Adam and our friends at Spreadshirt UK are trying to figure out. Here is a reblog from the Spreadshirt UK blog. What do you think?

EiffelTower

(Eiffel tower during shut-down)

When we saw in German Television (on the Tagesschau!) that they switched off the Eiffel Tower in Paris on February 1st for five minutes– after the grassroots chain e-mail regarding the UN climate report — we wondered how much impact we can reach if we made a bigger issue out of this. We also saw the progress shutdownday is making (17,000 yes votes so far), and started thinking about business’ role in all this, and how Spreadshirt could be involved. And the answers are…

Well since the trivia questions have been so popular I thought it would be a good time to follow up with the trivia answers.

T-shirt Trivia

A Spreadshirt shop has sold a certain number of t-shirts this year. It has sold half its t-shirts and one more to the first buyer. It sold half the remainder and one more to the second buyer. It sold half the remainder and one more to a third buyer, and finally half the remainder and one more to a forth buyer.

How many shirts has this Spreadshirt shop sold this year?

The correct answer is 30

Business Card Trivia

Adam the t-shirt salesman has three business cards: a black card that is black on both sides, a white card that is white on both sides and a mixed card that is black on one side and white on the other. He pulls one from his pocket at random and hands it to you. The side facing you is black. What is the probability that the reverse side is also black?

a) 1/3, b) 1/2, c) 2/3

The correct answer is 2/3. For a detailed explanation check out the Wikipedia entry on this trivia question.

Design your own St. Patrick’s Day T-shirt

That right, just in time for March, we have set up a shop where you can design your own St. Patrick’s Day t-shirt. We have green t-shirts and shamrock (and beer) designs galore!

Cool Colors

We have been talking about how sometimes it is hard to figure out which color combinations look good together.  Jana had some t-shirts made and the colors look awesome.  Here are some pictures of the color combinations so you can see how they look on the shirt…

Pink Zipper Hoodie with Silver Sparkle Flex

Whats the difference…

between the Jerzee’s polo shirt and the Continental Clothing Co Polo T-shirt?  That is a good question that is on the forum right now.  Here is the answer from Kristina, our wizard of products.

They are a lot softer and more comparable to a t-shirt. They are also less formal looking than the old Jerzees Polo.

Please note that the polo t-shirt runs small, order a size up for a looser fit.

Paint it on…

Check out this unique t-shirt I found via digg via Almightys.com - Phil Hansen paints the shirts on his own chest.

I don’t think Spreadshirt will be carrying this type of shirt anytime soon, but it is still very impressive.

Check out Phil’s webcam to see what he is doing live from his studio.

Josh loves us, with heart shaped donuts.   Josh brought a whole big box of heart shaped krispie kreme donuts in to the Pittsburgh office.  Thanks Josh!

T-shirts for TV lovers

Ok, I can’t believe I am going to admit to this, but I will be honest, I am sitting here at my desk thinking about what will happen on Grey’s Anatomy tonight.  I refuse to become a TV watcher, it has been years since I watched a show on a regular basis.  I used to be a die hard watcher of the Real World, but they have gotten a little too real.

Right after new years, I was stuck at home for a few days recovering from food posioning (stay away from the enchiladas if you are eating mexican in downtown Pittsburgh).  During my recovery I watched all of Grey’s Anatomy Season 1 and 2.  I have been following Season 3 on ABC.com.

So I was looking at some of our awesome Spreadshirt shop partners and found these 2 sites which are perfect for TV lovers.

TIFAUX is a blog about TV.  A couple of friends give recaps (some hilarious) and commentary on all things TV.  It is kind of like prime time TV remixed and so much better.

I like the graphic they have added that charts funny vs. addictive tv shows.

If you are a fan of the Amazing Race, and I know there are a few people in the Spreadshirt office that are, they you should check out TARfiles, which is an extensive site with a blog, forums and more about The Amazing Race.  i was checking out the about page and TARfiles was started by some fans of the website Television Without Pity, to buy banner ads to help keep Television Without Pity on the air web.  I would say that means the TARfiles team is hardcore about TV.

The real question is what will happen to Merdith Grey, will her character live?

Do you enter t-shirt contests?

Even though we work for a t-shirt company, and we wear alot of t-shirts, we never get tired of free t-shirts. I have seen a number of t-shirt contest lately and I just recieved an email from Glamour magazine about winning limited edition t-shirts from ShopBop.com. The t-shirts are from some hip designers. Visit this page to enter the contest with out subscribing to Glamour.

This got me thinking about t-shirt contests. Do t-shirt give aways work to get people to visit your website? Do you sign up to win free t-shirts? Which contests do you like? Which don’t you enter?
