I found this on Digg today. A blog post about self-cleaning fabrics that the US military has been working one. “Self-cleaning fabrics could revolutionize the sport apparel industry. The technology, created by scientists working for the U.S. Air Force, has already been used to create t-shirts and underwear that can be worn hygenically for weeks without washing.”
This is a new level of technology that I am not sure I can wrap my brain around yet. I LOVE technology (duh, I spend my time reading about t-shirt and technology) but the idea of a fabric that is so advance that you don’t have to wash it is amazing. Think of how much more time we would have if we just never had to do laundry. Would you wear a self-cleaning t-shirt?

I would test one out… but I don’t think I would wear it on more than one consecutive day. I wouldn’t want other people who don’t know about self-cleaning t-shirt technology to think I’m wearing a dirty shirt!
I agree. I just think it will be hard to change attidues about clean clothes. It is very interesting. Things like table cloths that never need to be washed will be a very good idea.
A table cloth that never needs washing is a really great idea! Hm… I bet there would be a large market for undergarments as well…
Hum, very interesting. I think this is one of those things which might never make it to commercial level as theres one pretty big industry who would have a problem with it (I cant even imagine how much the detergent/cleaning industry is worth). I bet there are loads of these kinds of technological advances which are brought by traditional industry and locked in a vault.
