I still can’t find any candy corn. I have been wanting some candy corn since halloween. I decided since I had to work all day on Halloween, eating some candy corn would be a good way to celebrate. But I was too busy to even stop and buy some on my way to the Spreadshirt office. In the evening I stopped a 2 different stores, no candy corn.
So on November 1, I fianlly stopped at the drug store. The entire store had already been decorated for Christmas. I could see empty shelves where there was once halloween treats, but the entire aisle had been redecorated for Christmas. These drug store chains do not mess around with the holiday decor. I finally had to ask at the counter and the kid working showed me one little box of Halloween candy that had already been marked half-off. No candy corn. But they did have the Mellowcreme pumpkins. So I bought 3 bags and brought one into casa Spreadshirt . Lukasz, he is the founder of Spreadshirt in German was here visitng Pittsburgh . It is kind of fun to work at an office where international visitors are not uncommon. So the pumpkins are sitting on the desk and he takes one, but before he eats it, he asks Lynsie and I to confirm that it is really food. Remember, he is from Germany, they don’t have Halloween in Germany.
Which got me thinking that these things, really don’t look like food. It is amazing what you will eat when you get so used to eating it. Apparently Lukasz is not the only one asking questions about this american candy traditions - Check out this post from Nuts About Southwest, the Southwest Airlines blog (which is a great blog), about candy corn.
