Freakgirl’s shirts make it to the show

Meet the Shopkeeper: Deb from Freakgirl.com has got a great shop and a great website, her story that involves one of her t-shirts and Flavor Flav’s VHI tv show.

Freakgirl’s blogtag line is “Making the world save for cocktails, television and hello kitty.” Deb’s website has a super cool retro theme and she writes about everything from her new couches to TV. She even has an interview with some realitytv personalities.

How did you find out about Spreadshirt? Any fun stories about your shirts?
I learned about Spreadshirt when I was trying to find an alternative to CafePress. I like Spreadshirt because I’m not a big vendor of tees; I just like to design them for certain pop culture happenings (like my new “I’m Here For Flav” shirts, one of which I actually just sent to a cast member of “Flavor of Love” at her request). No initial investment as well as on-demand design appealed to me, and I was able to set up my store in just a couple of hours.
How long have you been working on Freakgirl?
I’ve been blogging for almost ten years, believe it or not. Freakgirl.com started off as just a personal website, and as blogs took off, I followed. The blog is great fun for me and helps me stay creative, even when I’m just posting stupid videos or commenting on Paris Hilton’s latest idiotic antics. My readers are all smart and entertaining; the community they’ve created is what keeps me posting day after day. Many of the tees in myspreadshirt shop are jokes that have sprung up on the blog over the years.

Crocodile Hunter T-shirts

If you are missing Steve Irwin, aka the crocodile hunter, who was tragically killed in a freak accident with a stingray this month, then you might want to get one of these t-shirts from our shop partner “Design You Can Wear

I found this t-shirt featured on the blog “Chuck’s Weird World” - thanks Chuck for featuring one of our t-shirts. Chuck’s blog has some really interesting posts about weird stuff about Barbara Streisand, Barbie’s newest dog and more.

Best Free T-shirt Contest

As I was taking the laundry out of the dryer I noticed my newest free t-shirt from The Switch, which is some new bar in Pittsburgh, that was handing out t-shirts last weekend. Every time I go out to some event in Pittsburgh with my friend Erin, I end up with a free t-shirt.

So I was thinking about how fun free t-shirts are and I decided that we should hold a little contest to see what your favorite free t-shirt is. So send in the pictures, send in the stories. The team here at the Spreadshirt home office will be the jury and award the lucky winner with A FREE T-SHIRT, of course! Entries will be judged based on the best looking t-shirt and the story of how and where you got the free t-shirt. Email lpa@spreadshirt.com.

Hey there lonelygirl15

If you have been following the saga of lonelygirl15 then you will be happy to see this t-shirt:

What or who is lonelygirl15 you ask? Lonelygirl15 is “Bree” a 16 year-old who is home-schooled and has been keeping an online video journal on YouTube. It has recently been revealed that “Bree” is really 20-something actress, Jessica Rose, and the video journals are ficticious. The lonelygirl15 saga has taken the blog world by storm, and has even been featured in the New Your Times. Gawker even has a post about the lonelygirl15 situation becoming an actual print article in the New York Times. The whole story has really highlighted the popularity of YouTube and online videos.

This is soo big, that Lonelygirl15 even has its own page in Wikipedia. We did some looking around and so far this is the only lonelygirl15 t-shirt we can find. Let us know if you have found any other t-shirts.

Happy Birthday to our Lamp

Thanks to Lynsie for finding this on BoingBoing, the Anglepoise lamp is 70 years old this year. We live by these lamps here at the Spreadshirt office. There is even a Wikipedia page for the Anglepoise lamp.

The Anglepoise lamp was the twentieth century’s most successful and innovative desk lamp design. It was designed in 1933 by the British designer George Carwardine.

Yes we are amazed that there is a wikipedia page just for this one type of lamp, but we are happy to know that even our lamps are innovative.
Anglepoise lamps at Spreadshirt (Leah likes these lamps soo much, she has 2 of them on her desk):

To celebrate the 70th birthday of the Anglepoise lamp they have created the 8 ft version of the lamp as seen in this picture:

Has Mark gone too far?

Who is Mark? Mark Zuckerberg is the face behind Facebook. And some people are not too happy with him these days, because of the new changes at Facebook. The Facebook users and the bloggers have been up in arms about the new RSS mini-feed that shows every detail of what your friends have been doing on Facebook. From Wikipedia:

Zuckerberg became the target of criticism on September 5, 2006 with the Facebook emergence of News Feed, a list of the doings of friends that was mostly seen as an encouragement of digital stalking and unnecessary.

You can visit Mark Zuckerberg’s Page in Wikipedia for more info

And the people responded with blogs, petitions and t-shirts. Here are some t-shirts from a Spreadshirt Shop that was set up for those who want to wear their outrage about the new Facebook features…

Spreadshirt Book Club: Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer

It’s fall here in Pittsburgh, the leaves are starting to turn and kids are back to school. We have noticed an interesting trend in some of the newest Spreadshirt Shops that fits perfectly with the fall season - it’s football season and football fans are out in full force. We know all about football fans because the Spreadshirt office is located in the heart of Steelers Country.

While checking out some of the new football themed Spreadshirt shops today I came across this book by Warren St. John called “Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer.” Currently we do not have a Spreadshirt book club, but after finding this book maybe it’s time we start a book club. Okay, so I haven’t read “Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer” yet, but I did read all about it on the Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer Website. In this book St. John joins the fanatic fans and studies sports mania, by following the Alabama Crimson Tide across the country.

From the Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer Website:

In no time at all, St. John himself is drawn into the world of full-immersion fandom: he buys an RV (a $5,500 beater called The Hawg) and joins the caravan for a football season, chronicling the world of the extreme fan and learning that in the shadow of the stadium, it can all begin to seem strangely normal.

So I think this book is worth a read and maybe can be the start of our very own Spreadshirt Book Club (if Oprah can have a book club, then we can too).

And to bring this back to the t-shirt, we like t-shirts, what is your favorite unique football t-shirt? We are also looking for suggestions for the nextSpreadshirt book club book - leave a comment or email lpa@spreadshirt.com
