The Top Ten Products at Spreadshirt

One of the questions we often get is: what are the best-selling products at Spreadshirt? Since this question is pretty easy to answer and the results are relatively constant, we came up with this nifty image of the top 10 products for you. The image also shows the top colours which sold best for those products in the first quarter of 2009 (in order of their popularity).

Newest Addition to the Apparel Assortment

A few months ago, we sent one of our test lab employees over to the relatively young Berlin fashion label Emperor’s Clothing. They have been working hard on developing a new fabric and we thought that “Earth Month” would be the right time to introduce, drum roll please, the “Revolutee”! The name might sound a bit presumptuous at first glance, but give it a chance. We are definitely expecting a lot from this product, especially since the most common reasons for shirt returns are: wrong size, wrong colour or that the cut doesn’t fit.

Those are exactly the points which our test lab teamed up with Emperor’s to solve – and they hit the nail right on the head. Their shirt is not only unisex and available in every colour imaginable, it is also suitable for every occasion – and it is the first unisex shirt which has truly earned that title. What does this mean for you? Simply add a design and order it. There’s no more need to find the right style and size, washing it is elementary and it’s 100% organic. Note: the Revolutee(on) is expected to be available this coming Monday when we roll out the other new additions to our assortment. Stay tuned!

Impressions from Barcamp London 6

I´m currently in London for Barcamp 6 for which we sponsored the official shirts. For all of you who are not familiar with the concept of a Barcamp - go here. For all others who know what a Barcamp is but couldn´t attend this time: try to come here when you get the chance next time.

The Barcamp London 6 not only takes place in very inspiring surroundings - we´re in the new office of The Guardian, the people here are also very inspiring to listen and talk to.

My definite highlight so far: Sam´s talk about The Guardian´s open API and the Data Store which allow developers and publishers to make apps with news and facts in the making. Besides that, I also really enjoyed a small discussion about how to manage your customers expectations, a presentation about “making kick-ass video navigation” and lots of chat to interesting people like Jan, Tobi (love his Barcamp shirt variation), Carl, and Oliver just to name a few.

Search Engine Optimisation for your Shops – Part 1 Released

As we mentioned in the blog and forum a couple of weeks ago, we want to better optimise your t-shirt shops so they are placed towards the top of the organic search results.

Part 1 went online yesterday (yeah!). The meta tags (title, description and keywords) will now be semi-automatically generated for your t-shirt shops.

Speaking of semi-automatic, you will have to do your part. Trying not to sound parental, this improvement won’t work as planned without a little elbow finger grease. Once again, here are the most important points:

  1. Enter the meta data for your t-shirt shop home page. This advice is especially meant for shop partners who had entered their meta data in their own header.
  2. Give your t-shirt shops a name (instead of the default 1234567.spreadshirt.co.uk). Both search engines and humans really, really don’t like “naked”, name-less shops.
  3. Enter names, descriptions and keywords for t-shirts, hoodies, tank tops, etc. which appear in your shops. This can be done for each product here by clicking on details under the product images.
  4. If you use your own categories, also give them a description.

Spreadshirt Yearly Poll 2008

Once again, a year is fading out making way for the next one. This time: 2008. And once again, we – my colleagues and I, Torge – would like to know what made this year important to you, what moved you to tears and who really ground your gears.
Short review: Last year you nominated Al Gore as the most polular person of the year. The silver medal went to Sébastian Chabal, a guy who I never ever heard of well-known rugby player of the Sale Sharks. The real surprise, however, was to be found at the lower end of the scale where George W. Bush handed over the Golden Raspberry to Paris Hilton. By the way: Knut (the famous Berlin polar bear) got stuck somewhere in the middle.
When it came to the vote for the most important website of the year, there was of course just one possible winner: Spreadshirt! What actually surprised me was that you guys like MySpace more than Facebook…
Anyway, additionally to some questions you already know from last year, we want to elect the most beautiful city and risk a short glimpse into the future this year.
