ho-ho-ho-it%e2%80%99s-beginning-to-feel-a-lot-like-christmas-%e2%80%a6-in-your-shop

Ho, ho, ho! It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas … in your shop!

To save the shop partners amongst us a little time in preparation for the upcoming holidays, our graphics team put together two lovely winter-holiday-snowy-and-sparkly background images for you.

You can simply download these from our Flickr page or right click and save the images. Then you can upload them to your user area and select it as your shop background under “Profile – Shops – Shop Layout”. If you go the extra step and set your theme to “Winter” under the “Selected Design” drop-down, you will be sure to get your customers whistling their way into the holiday shopping mood! ;-)

Do it Yourself: A Different Take on Shirt Customisation

After Andy from HYA listed 50 great ways to recycle your old shirts with some awesome examples of other uses of the tee, we thought we’d take the camera around the office to see what we’ve experimented with. Here is a collection of our ideas on the extensive possibilities a shirt offers, other than, of course, wearing it. Now with that “Holiday-Which-Must-Not-Yet-Be-Named” soon approaching, you might want to impress with some nifty shirt-recycling gift ideas.

every-idea-fits-on-a-shirt

Every Idea Fits on a Shirt!

Every so often we have customers who ask us if we can help them create a design or if we can provide them with some tips on visualisation. They have specific ideas in their heads which they don’t really know how to implement. This is basically where the Marketplace and T-Shirt Designer searches provide boat loads of designs and products for every imaginable occasion.

Nevertheless – sometimes the exact product they want isn’t there to be found. So, we would like to make it a little more “personal”: if you have an idea which hasn’t found its way onto the Marketplace yet, either because you don’t trust your designing skills or don’t really know how to implement the idea, then tell us about it! We would like to lend a helping hand to those who can’t find exactly what they are looking for. From all of the suggestions we receive, we will select 3 ideas which we will design and then send those selected a shirt with that very idea on it.

As there might be a few Marketplace designers reading out there, here is a little inspiration for you. The search terms below were entered a number of times into our search bar in the last few months – without success. Perhaps you have an idea how to visualise one of these ideas on a shirt. (This doesn’t mean you have to use one of these terms for your shirt idea.)

Twardrobe III - Giving new Products a Spin

We are proud to present our third installment of Twardrobe – our mix of Twitter, wardrobe and customer reviews of our new products. Big thanks goes out to Jonas and Sandra for testing our American Apparel Fleece Track Pants (pardon my Americanism) and our Drape Hem Skirt.

I am not usually the track pants kind of guy. But this time I immediately found these trousers quite appealing: really comfortable and they sit great – not so baggy like other sweatpants. After putting them on, I suddenly had the urge to move. And when my girlfriend Sandra slipped into the skirt and started to dance around, because the skirt rises just ever so nicely, we decided to head out into the garden and give these products a spin. Sandra was a bit skeptical about the skirt’s material: 70% bamboo – hmm. But it actually feels really comfortable to the touch and there doesn’t seem to be any bamboo shoots woven into it. Wearing the skirt in the dress variation first presents you with the question of how high it should sit. If you don’t want to show too much décolleté (a.k.a. cleavage), then this dress is dangerously short. With just a little twist and turn you’ll be doing your best Marilyn Monroe impersonation.

There you have it! If you want to be the lucky reviewer of our newest products, keep your eye on our Twitter account for the next Twardrobe!

win-a-free-timbuk2-bloggers-bag

Win a free Timbuk2 Bloggers Bag!

We give away this nice Timbuk2 Blogger Bag which is part of our new Exclusive Line. Since we made some fotos with it, I wouldn’t say it’s really brand new - but as you probably can spot from the foto our model treated it well. The nice thing is: we have already preprinted a beautiful design on it. If you’d buy it in our T-Shirt Designer, it costs GBP 70.51. Also make sure to watch the interviews Jana (our CEO) did with Kevin McSpadden (CMO of Timbuk2).

What’s the deal to win it? Fairly simple: All you have to do is blog. Anything. Whether it’s about the Election in Iran. Or the Berlin Wall and Internet Censorship. About the new iPhone. Or about the T-Shirt Day. Fairly anything that comes to mind, shows the power of the blogs, and tells us you simply need this Blogger bag.

Participation ends next Wednesday (June 24th, 2009, 11:59 PM) - please leave a trackback to this blogpost so we can see you’re joining in. The winner will be revealed on Friday (June 26th).

Blog Parade: My favourite T-shirts

Monday has come. The Monday on which we´d like to see you showing off your favourite shirts in a little blog parade. Above you see mine and I hope some of you will follow with webcam snapshots of yours.

From left to right, I´m deliberately not wearing Spreadshirts but some of my favourite shirts I´ve purchased externally in the last couple of days: a shirt from Nike, one from Beastin´ and one from Long.

I guess I don´t have to lose too many word about Nike besides that they really know how to play the T-shirt game. When it comes to the shirt above, I especially like how they combined a Flex print with a screen print. The Long shirt from London caught my eyes because of its extraordinarily long cut and the very very simple print. And the Beastin` shirt I got because I love black shirts and I loved how this one was presented in a 7 square meter popup store in Munich, Germany, which is only open for seven hours every seventh day of the week.

Alright, your time now: show us your favourite tees!

Join in: the Countdown to T-Shirt Day

We said it once, and we´ll say it again: June 21st is International T-Shirt Day. In order to build up the celebration mood in advance, our good old friend Adam created the “Countdown to T-Shirt Day“. The idea is to have one T-shirt blog, T-shirt shop or T-shirt platform a day hosting a T-shirt related contest, sweepstake or promotion.

This is a plea to any T-shirt sites or blogs that want to

  • host a daily contest
  • offer a daily prize
  • organize a activity/sale/coupon/promotion for tshirt day itself

to get in touch with Adam using the Tee Junction contact form.

We at Spreadshirt will kick off the countdown tomorrow with our “show off your favourite shirt blog safari”. You´re more than welcome to join.

Impressions from Barcamp London 6

I´m currently in London for Barcamp 6 for which we sponsored the official shirts. For all of you who are not familiar with the concept of a Barcamp - go here. For all others who know what a Barcamp is but couldn´t attend this time: try to come here when you get the chance next time.

The Barcamp London 6 not only takes place in very inspiring surroundings - we´re in the new office of The Guardian, the people here are also very inspiring to listen and talk to.

My definite highlight so far: Sam´s talk about The Guardian´s open API and the Data Store which allow developers and publishers to make apps with news and facts in the making. Besides that, I also really enjoyed a small discussion about how to manage your customers expectations, a presentation about “making kick-ass video navigation” and lots of chat to interesting people like Jan, Tobi (love his Barcamp shirt variation), Carl, and Oliver just to name a few.

P.S. Find more pictures here or here or by just keeping your eyes open for the tag “bcl6″.

sleeveface-features-a-cnn-shirt

Sleeveface features a CNN shirt

Sleeveface is a blog specializing in pictures of “one or more persons obscuring or augmenting any part of their body or bodies with record sleeve(s) causing an illusion”.
The concept is that successful that there´s even a best-of Sleeveface book (”Sleeveface - Be The Vinyl“) out now.
A few days ago, a picture popped up on Sleeveface which shows a woman wearing a CNN shirt (”‘Yes we did’, Obama crowd chants at rally“) and holding up up  Roger Daltrey-LP (Under A Raging Moon). What a nice story to kick-off the office season in 2009 :-).
Also nice: Bruce Springsteen, Jimi Hendrix oder Kylie Minogue.
