One Tee of Separation between Spreadshirt and Constant Paranoia

Constant Paranoia is less my state of mind on a busy Wednesday afternoon, and more a band from Holland. This t-shirt recently made its merry way through our production, and now we know what its destiny was:

Hello Anja,

Received the shirt yesterday. I’m very pleased with it.

The band now has it’s own mascotte and we’ll take him to the shows.

Many thanks for the good service!

Esther

That would be the last thing I would expect a Death Metal band to take along on tour. I guess I’ve never really understood the genre.

Yowzers, what’s that‽

A big lorry rolled up to our doors recently and delivered this strange wooden box. We asked ourselves, “what in Spreadshirt’s name might be in there” – but, Simon was brave enough to drill some air holes. We’ll let you know what happened and provide more details about its contents soon (next week at the latest). In the meantime, if you have any ideas what it might concealed therein, we’d love to hear them and will lend an ear to all conspiracy theories.

P.S. If you are wondering what that funny question mark thingy is in the title, it’s an interrobang. Use them wisely.

The 10 best ice cream shirts on the Marketplace! Madrid 37°, Rome 34°, Paris and Berlin 32°, London … well, 25° isn’t that bad – certainly warm enough for an ice cream cone (or two)! And ever since writing about the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck, I couldn’t get the thought of caramelised bacon covered ice cream out of my mind. If only Manhattan weren’t so far away - how about a day trip?

We may not have an ice cream van making its rounds (at least, I haven’t heard him yet), we surely have some ice cream shirts! By ice cream shirts, I don’t mean ice cream stained shirts, nor do I mean ice cream shaped like shirts. Namely, I mean these:

Some are perhaps too much in love with their shirt’s design to remove their shirts in the warm summer sun. Some may underestimate the power of the sun’s rays on their unprotected skin. Regardless, the result is a well-known form of embarrassment (and in some instances pride – see below). I myself have been a victim of the clear line of contrasting red on white many a time and with the slight lift of a shirt sleeve received a hearty laugh or a shaking head of disapproval. I have since learned that 15 minutes of unprotected sun can be good source of vitamin D for your body, but the other 11 hours and 45 minutes of sun exposure should be well-protected … and t-shirts only cover so much skin. A quick look through flickr provides you with a painful memory of Farmer’s Tans Burns of past and present: continue reading ‘The 10 Most Painfully Beautiful Farmer’s Tans’

… and lives up to his personalised shirt-proclamation (a Spreadshirt product, of course ;-)  ) by hitting all of those ‘Bus Stop’ notes. This is one of those songs you hear on the radio but would never come up with the name or band – that is, unless you are a big fan of The Hollies. Well done Geoff!

Are there any other Spreadshirt-wearing karaoke singers out there?

T-Shirt Statistics from the World of Spreadshirt

With T-Shirt Day just around the corner we thought we would put together an interesting list of facts and numbers we’ve discovered lurking amongst the world of Spreadshirt. We unearthed some surprising and at times perplexing figures.

With all of that in mind, our number crunching market researchers have an open invitation to you all to make requests for more stats if the ones below haven’t satisfied your craving. As you might guess we sometimes can’t get around the fact of not naming some figures. Unless you are a professional football player, you wouldn’t want your monthly wages published out in the open either.

Spreadshirt’s world in numbers:

- The average number of people who handle a Spreadshirt product before it lands in the customer’s mailbox: 16

- The average number of hours it took a Spreadshirt product from the time of order to shipment in 2008 (including weekends and holidays): 36 continue reading ‘T-Shirt Statistics from the World of Spreadshirt’

The laFraise vs. Spreadshirt ecOlympics - Day3: Healthy Living

EarthDay

It’s day three and we are close to the finals. Today we are taking care of a healthy living, and you know: sometimes, this is the hardest part. Right at the start we found ourselves in the kitchen not sipping oily hot coffee with fat milk as usual, but green tea without sugar and some strange greek mountain herbs.

Back to the office - and in a lucky moment, Tobi caught Eike right before she wanted to shut the windows - today these windows stay open, freezing in fresh air is preferred to choking in the computer heated office.

Over to lunch: Instead of a 5 class menu or some quick rolls at the corner bakery we chose to go for the Gandine, a nice little location not far away - but far enough for a little running tour. Here we picked some salads and even the dessert can be described as “semi-healthy”: icecream made of olive oil, parmesan cheese or carrots.

To pick up some energy in the early afternoon, we tried the organic gummy bears stars with real costa rica cola. Afterwards, Michel decided to do a little “smoker’s yoga” on the terrace. And yes, we have to admit that some of our team couldn’t resist to join the cake session, but what’s good for the mood can’t be bad for the body? ;)

Let’s see with what the laFraisians come up with - and who will win the gold medal in the end. Actually this reminds me: we haven’t decided on the prizes or even how we pick the winner, but the last three days were really fun and insightful anyway, so stay tuned for the big winner’s ceremony next week.

The laFraise vs. Spreadshirt ecOlympics - Day 2: Saving energy / water

EarthDay

Yesterday saw the close of Day 2 of the ecOlympics.

Saving energy is normally Michel´s self appointed task within our department. He´s the one switching all the screens from standby to off when leaving the office. Of course, he also did that all day yesterday as well.

On top of that, Ami was a particularly strong performer. He wore not a regular, but a watch that you can recharge through body-movements, left his mobile off the whole day and worked all day on a “power-saving Apple machine”. And if that wasn´t enough, he came into the office wearing bright sun-tee from laFraise. Big up!

The rest of the zoo got points for coming to work by bike and not using the elevator.

laFraise guys, it doesn´t look good for you ;-)!

The laFraise vs. Spreadshirt ecOlympics - Day 1: Reduce/Reuse/Recycle

Earth Day is behind us and the future is ahead. Since we don’t only want to take action close to Earth Day, but act in a more sustainable manner, we thought it would be nice to keep improving and training our ecological mindset. That’s why we challenged the guys over at laFraise to do a fun competition, we called it the “ecolympics”. It will last for three days and the teams are the Spreadshirt Bloggers vs. the laFraisians. Here are the disciplines:

Wednesday: Avoid Spam, umm, I mean waste
Thursday: Save Energy and Water
Friday: Healthy food and living (no macaroni Friday in the BIC cantina it seems)

Well, here is the first episode: Talking of waste. How can we avoid waste - which sounds pretty simple, since we just have to reuse stuff. For example water bottles, mugs, green tea bags, chewing gums (umm, wait on this). The second big part is to avoid paper and just not printing this email, separate plastic wrap material and bio-waste (a great sports here in Germany).

See how we did and check our gallery:

I think we are well prepared and a hot candidate for the gold medal in this discipline. We are very curious to see how the laFraise Team wants to beat the Tupperware towel recycled bottle champs!

To get extra points, we seeded a little “T-Shirt shape” outside HQ and inserted funny postcards and sunflowerseeds at every order yesterday.
