Hello World We Are Electro

The site HELLO WORLD WE ARE ELECTRO is a small altar for Electro music and its fans. It is a boldly colourful electronic world in itself filled with pacmanian figures, vibrant and vibrating contrasts over an electro-shade background and plenty of writing done with CAPS LOCK.  Some of the styles found in the HWWAE shop might come across as familiar to those perusing through Spreadshirt – specifically the prolific hand of Marketplace designer Romibello, part of the Electro-duo. A mini-interview tells the tale:

What inspired or motivated you to open a shop and how long have you been running it?
Max: HELLO WORLD WE ARE ELECTRO is by far more than just a shop, but the shop is certainly a part of HWWAE. HWWAE represents the Electro generation, all of the Clubkids and Afterhouraddicts of urban nightlife.
Rob: we met each other in the Spreadshirt Forum, and because Max liked my designs and we both listened to Electro, he got me involved in the site. Now we are both involved in the shop, which, as Max already mentioned, is not only a shop – there is a philosophy behind it.

Who does what?
Max: Rob cleans the kitchen and I make the mojitos.
Rob: and they taste excellent!

How do you market your shop?
Max: Our label sets itself apart from the mainstream, just like our “Marketing” does. It is most often passed on by word-of-mouth from all of the people who wear our shirts, as most of our shirts are pretty striking and grab attention. We also offer some stickers with various designs. Somehow these have been stuck to walls in a number of European cities..

Rob: People are very proud of the statement on our product- that they listen to Electro - and show that pride with our shirts, stickers and posters. That’s how our customers are our best walking advertisements

What do you do when you aren’t designing shirts or working on your shop?
Max: I just finished school and I will be starting university in October studying fashion design. At the moment I am in Brazil and am doing a tour of South America. Travel is such a great source of inspiration and I love learning about new cultures (even if the Electro scene here is much smaller than in Europe ;-). Other than that – partying, dancing, photography, art exhibitions, and hitting the gym every so often.

What Electro music are you listening to these days?

• Cat Power – Hate (Danny Scrilla Remix)

Other than that I usually put my iTunes on shuffle – I have so much good music that it would be a pity to only listen to the new hypes.
