Our CEO Jana Eggers recently met up with designer Daniel Casarella from Barking Irons in his New York studio. He revealed what designers should keep in mind when creating a good t-shirt design. He essentially points to three things which are important for a successful design:
- Balance – how and where the parts of the design are placed on the shirt
- Typography – the choice of font and its proper use to effectively communicate your message
- Research – a good design should always be able to tell a story and stories are much easier to tell when you really know about the history behind it.
P.S. The Barking Irons apparel in our Exclusive Collection is still in stock and Summer is certain to bring along some new stuff.

I really like your site but I have a problem that the text is sometimes limited by lines and I want to get something more wordy on a tshirt can you help me
Hey Dominic,
Thanks for the compliments
Our T-shirt Designer allows for 5 lines of text, but if you are looking to put more words on a shirt here is what I would suggest:
- Open and set up a free shop: http://www.spreadshirt.net/en/GB/-/Open-Shop-4013/
- Create a vector graphic with your text (requirements for vector graphics http://www.spreadshirt.net/en/GB/Service/Help-1328/categoryId/46/articleId/35 )
Vectors will allow a lot more flexibility for space and font choice. Let us know if you have any questions!
We love that BI-Stuff ;=)
