A meeting on our balcony: Jonas and Henning are discussing the marketplace.
Jonas owns some Spreadshirt Shops and did the wonderful inofficial Marketplace Search “Spreadtags”. “I just thought the other day - this can’t be too complicated. So I sat down and did the whole thing in just one night. Okay, maybe it was a little “brute force” for your servers, but the Spreadtags Search was ready to go.” With his Search requests he indeed created some issues for our IT (and the servers) - but in the end we found a solution to support his project (which is, btw. also very popular amongst Spreadshirt employees).
In the meantime Spreadtags offers over 160.000 tags in the European Marketplace, and is also available for the US Marketplace.
Henning, on Spreadshirt Site is responsible for the Spreadshirt Marketplace. He released the “official search” last week, which is implemented directly in the T-Shirt Designer. “It’s the first part of a completely new platform, which is realized in Java. In the next step we will add functionalities such as search for categories, Design-ID or browsing through more than 35 results.”

Jonas: “I’m still wondering why you didn’t offer the search earlier? Why did it take you almost a year since the relaunch?”
Henning: “Sure, we planned to release the search earlier. However, after the relaunch there were some complaints about us publishing new features and innovations in a too early stage. This is why we started to do things differently this time: spend more time with evaluating and the planning beforehand, to avoid short term updates and hotfixes. Also, the performance of the search engine was one of our main goals. Of course it would have been nice to launch it earlier, but I think in the end it pays off that we did it this way.”
Since last Friday, the new Search Function is online and works smoothly, as you can see if you take a look at the T-Shirt Designer. Make sure you check out the Spreadtags Search, too. If you need more inspiration, also take a look at Flachsis Marketplace Blog (with handpicked designs).
