Meet a Spreader - Maïa

As of now, Maïa (aged somewhere between 20 and 30 according to her agent) will be responsible for all of the laFraise blogs. Previously Maïa has been blogging for fluctuat and occasionally contributed columns for men’s magazines such as Playboy and FHM (it’s true!). Here’s the why….

Why did you move to Berlin?

My boy-friend and I come from Paris, but he found a job in Berlin, so I decided to come along. That was in July of 2006. Since I found it difficult to do freelance work for French magazines from there, I was on the look-out for another job. That’s when I hit upon laFraise – I am overjoyed because laFraise has an excellent reputation in the French blogosphere.

At the moment there are French, German and English laFraise blogs. Do you have plans for change?

I like the blogs a lot, - but they could still improve on that personal angle. Blogs are 100% subjective and they should be written accordingly. Two posts a day would be another improvement I would like to see, preferably one at 9 AM, when people turn on their PC, too tired to work. And another one at 5 PM, just before they leave work. During lunch at 12:30 might make sense too. And then don’t forget party time, when it is our job to entertain the lonesome crowd that doesn’t venture out Friday and Saturday nights!

What do you like apart from blogging?

Oh I got a number of typically “male” hobbies, even though I enjoy being as female as it gets! Including poker, drinking booze with friends, and gaming outside.

Can’t you pay your rent?

Nah - it is an activity pretty popular in Paris, where up to 100 people meet to play WLAN Nintendo DS in public places. It is fun!

Sounds cool. Where do you live in Berlin?

In Friedrichshain, former East Berlin, which has become a pretty artsy part of town. Not far from Guillaume (laFraise colleague) either..

What do you like about Berlin, what do you hate about Berlin?

Berlin is much safer than Paris. Really the most vicious people in Berlin are their dogs. I like inline skating, and dogs tend to follow me and once have even bitten me! I have another complaint: the price of public transportation. It is 2.20 for a subway ticket, as opposed to 1.35 in Paris! Other than that I love Berlin!
