Sometimes great little stories appear in the most unexpected of places. For example… What happens when you mix Carl Thywissen, and East Stirlingshire and Norwegian football supporters?
…..You get Norwayshire!
Some weeks ago we had a quaint phenomenon on the Spreadshirt Norwegian market. One of our new shop-partners, a supporter club for a football team, started selling really well. Now this isnt a strange phenomenon in itself, but what makes it really special is that the team they are supporting, is the team in the last place of the lowest division
in Scotland!
- Scoring 1 goal per match in the 1938/1939 season
- Being the first team in Sir Alex Fergusons career as a manager (for 112 days).
So how did this club suddenly become Norways 3rd biggest football supporter club and that in only a matter of weeks? The answer lays in a special report of the Norwegian TV program Golden Goal, where a documentary on Carl Thywissen, a Norwegian player on the team, was made. The story of how he makes £10 a week but still chooses to play for the team struck a note with the Norwegian audience finally someone who plays football just to have fun! The Norwegian supporter club was started, and within weeks they had outgrown the well-established supporter clubs of teams such as Arsenal, Tottenham and Leeds. As of today, the supporter club has almost 5,000 members. Only the Norwegian supporter clubs of Manchester United and Liverpool are bigger. We are of course very happy that they chose to set up their merchandise shop with Spreadshirt, and wish the team all the best in keeping their right to play in Scottish 3. division.

Great post! Wish there was more posts from the courious and wonderful land of Norway here!
I have to say, that I could not agree with you in 100% regarding s 3rd biggest supporter club at The Spreadshirt Blog (UK), but it’s just my opinion, which could be wrong
