Lanyards and another mini-competition

Lanyard

In my opinion the Lanyard is one of the lesser appreciated members of the Spreadshirt assortment. Like the sweaty uncle, with the slight drinking problem, often left uninvited to family bbq’s. My opinion of the lanyard changed when we made some as part of a sponsorship of the Leipzig music event Popup.

Music genre’s become increasingly more ridiculous by the week it seems, every genre must involve post, neo, core, progressive etc etc, so we made up a load and put them on the lanyard. We had a really good response, it was a nice talking point and the lanyard still proudly rests in my wallet.

Lanyard 400x300

So lets take a moment to champion the humble lanyard, without which finding your keys would be a whole lot harder, and blinging your wallet a whole lot less enjoyable. I hope that my championing of the lanyard makes you more likely to invite it into your Spreadshop bbq.

Competition Alert!

I also found a spare mock music genre lanyard, if you like to win it just offer us your best fake music genre in the comments.  The best gets a lanyard and some other super secret swag we’ll find around the office.

Introducing the Product of the Month

Aug Product of the Month
Starting 1st August, we will have a new product of the month, every month (logical). Hang on, backup whats the product of the month? Well I’m glad you asked. Its a month long discount on one of our products. So we’ll lower the base price, you can pick either to

1) Lower the price of products in your shops.

2) Carry on as normal and pocket the extra commission for designs you sell on that product.

Should you opt for two you should of course make the most of the promotion with frenzied communication from your side: banners, TV-commercials, billboards, airships… it”s up to you to make the most of it.

Lets kick off the discount party with Augusts product of the month (drum roll)…… the Summer Shirt Mens & Womens, which will drop in price by ?2.80 or €3.40. This will happen automatically, you have to do nothing but decide what to do with it and lower your prices if necessary.

Tourist-tastic

Green Grass Camera Shirt

I really like this design. For me it fits two settings

a) Actually being a Tourist

This says it loud and proud. I’m a tourist, oh yeah, I have no idea where I am, steal my Lonely Planet and I’ll going into shock and drop dead from fear of going somewhere not given 20 words snarly review. I’m going to take photos of anything other people are taking photos of. I’d wear this shirt with touristy pride, a smug grin on my face the next time I’m taking photos of things other people are taking photos of.

b) Not being a Tourist, in a place full of Tourists

Last week I was in a sort of Touristy no mans land. I was acting as a Tour guide, in Cambridge for a first time city visitor, in a city I hardly know, getting annoyed by all the Tourists, of which I was technically one. The perfect scenario to wear this and make the equally paradoxical

“I hate you annoying Tourists”

“I’m an annoying Tourist” statement

Blog Slogan T-shirt Contest

Blogging Expertise Logo

Blogging Expertise ran a nice little contest to submit a slogan for a blogging t-shirt. I meant to pimp the contest here but it slipped through the net a bit, and now its too late. Small contests like this are a great way to engage with the readers of your blog, and a Spreadshirt shirt is a very personal but low effort/cost prize. Their winning slogans will adorn a Spreadshop near you very soon according to the site. Some of them were really great, my favorites were “Blogging is the new…. (read more)” and “Don’t stop now, I’m on a blog roll”.  While its too late to enter, its not to late to shameless steal their idea.

So if you can think of a slogan you like more than the following winners of their contest leave it in the comments and we’ll pick one winner and send you your slogan on a shirt of your choice.

Their winners:

“Bloggers do it for the comments.”

“My blog beat up your brochure.”

“Technorati Hottie”

“RSS feeds. I am hungry.”

“Don‘t stop me now, I‘m on a blog roll.”

“I came, I saw, I blogged”

“I’ve got a blog and I’m not afraid to use it.”

“Blogging is the new … (read more)”

T-shirt forums and Entrepreneur.com

Entrepreneur.com Logo
Sorry for the lack of posts of late, I’ve been on holiday attending Latitude Festival (pics coming) and generally milling around England. I’ve returned to see that Spreadshirt has been mentioned several times (with quotes from our CEO Jana) in a recent article over at Entrepreneur.com, which you can read here

“T-shirts have become a blank canvas on which consumers are expressing their innermost thoughts, wants and needs–and they’ll gladly buy shirts that represent these personal statements. The time is right to express yourself, too, and make a profit while you’re at it.”

I found this via the indispensable t-shirtforums. If you’re not using it I highly recommend you check it out and connect with your peers. Theres over 8,500 really knowledgeable t-shirt sellers/enthusiasts over there. There is a Spreadshirt sub-board as well. I think we might have mentioned it here once or twice before.

Norwayshire - Norway’s 3rd biggest supporter club

East Stirligshire - We just can't score a goal!
Sometimes great little stories appear in the most unexpected of places. For example… What happens when you mix Carl Thywissen, and East Stirlingshire and Norwegian football supporters?

…..You get Norwayshire!

Spreadshirt @ Leipzigs Westbesuch

Washing line

On Saturday we sponsored a local event called Westbesuch to showcase the fine (and under-appreciated) area of Plagwitz here in the West of Leipzig where the HQ resides. Pete my British comrade got the task of constructing a particularly epic 100m or so washing line stock full of Spreadshirt goods running from HQ to the street where all the exhibitors were (about 80 exhibitors in total).

Many more photos after the jump

As a serial blogger, I’m really digging this new design from Festivalshirts. As just about anything is niche blog worthy, its actually wearable anywhere, anytime, anyday. Mundane is the new insane, at least when it comes to the blogosphere.

Modern Sandman - New Shirt from La Fraise

Modern Sandman

I’m really digging this new shirt from La Fraise and Adam Antium. Its brilliantly designed and more than enough of those important requirements:

a) eerieness

b) chin scratching ponderingness (does the sheep represent modern societies sleep loss? Perhaps from overwork or worry?)
