This post took me too long to write! Why?… The Twitter Curve

I just read this really interesting article over at Creating Passionate Users about the Twitter Curve. Essentially, we don’t end up focusing on anything, because we are too busy trying to keep in touch with everything!

I have to admit that i find this phenomenon to be true…

Read on to find out more!

For me worst/best distraction is my Netvibes. As soon as i notice there is something new that i havnt read, i find it exceptionally hard to concentrate on what i am doing. I think to myself, it will only take a second to see what the alert is. And then that second sometimes turns into a minute, or 5 if the article is interesting, or 10 if the article links to other interesting articles. And then 15 if i feel i need to tell other people about it. So, as you can see, the blog post that i am trying to write gets ignored. And by the time i have come back from unfocused scatter-gun like surfing, i have forgotten that next witty sentence i was going to write. If you add to Netvibes the distractions of checking emails, IM, and checking the stats for this Blog, then you will soon realise why it has taken me too long to write this post!

So, to summarise. Stop reading this article and get back to work! Or, alternatively, set aside a time of the day where you close down all distractions; email, IM, RSS feeds, etc. and enjoy some quality “focus” time.

p.s. I have specifically decided to avoid Twitter to save myself from even more distractions.
