Quote on Clothing the Same Day

London, 26 April 2012, Online clothing-commerce platform, Spreadshirt, enabled Fleet Street Fox to react quickly to events yesterday, when Dennis Skinner MP suggested at Prime Minister Questions that, “when posh boys are in trouble they sack the servants”. The slogan was on t-shirts on the site by late afternoon. The jibe harks back to a pre-election Guardian competition featuring the Step Outside Posh Boy poster.

Spreadshirt’s customised-clothing and print-on-demand technology means that its shop partners and brands can keep their sites fresh and topical, by quickly uploading new designs, encouraging fans and advocates to visit.

In late March, Spreadshirt UK shop partners responded with humour to #pastygate, adapting the Keep Calm And Carry On design to combine the pasty, petrol and stamp stories: http://pasty.spreadshirt.co.uk/

Notes to Editors
Spreadshirt has recently announced profitable 2011 revenue growth of 43% globally and 20% in the UK. This exceeds the UK internet economy growth rate of 10.9%, outlined by the Boston Consulting Group in a recent report. Global revenue was 45.8m EUR in 2011 and Spreadshirt expects revenues to reach 64m EUR in 2012.

Spreadshirt’s personalisation platform means that all the designs can be added to t-shirts, hoodies, aprons, even babygrows via the Spreadshirt Facebook page. Designers and customers can choose a ready-made design from the Spreadshirt marketplace or create their own Jubilee souvenir in time for the June festivities.

Design guru Karl Lagerfeld is set to join the celebrations for the Jubilee by offering live commentary of the event on French television. And London’s luxury department stores including Harrods and Harvey Nichols are embracing the celebrations by giving their respective windows a patriotic makeover.

London, 17 April 2012, London elects its mayor on 3 May and 11 other UK cities vote in mayoral referendums. So customisable-clothing platform Spreadshirt asks city-dwellers what they would do, if they were Mayor? From the quirky to the straight-forward, ideas in the Spreadshirt Shop currently include:

If I Were Mayor there’d be a banker tax

If I Were Mayor South London would be independent

If I Were Mayor I’d say no to Heathrow 3

If I Were Mayor there’d be slides on the Tube

If I Were Mayor #riotwombles would get a medal

The Spreadshirt platform means users can customise the standard slogan or choose a ready-made design to voice their opinions in the run-up to polling day.
London, 29 March 2012, Spreadshirt (www.spreadshirt.co.uk), the global, clothing-commerce platform, experienced profitable growth across all business units in 2011 with 43% revenue growth year-on-year. Revenue is anticipated to reach EUR 64m in 2012 and a second North American factory will open in Las Vegas.

Philip Rooke, CEO at Spreadshirt explains, “The Spreadshirt platform is an exciting concept that changes the clothing market for consumers and businesses. Our 2011 figures reflect the increasing success of our role in e-commerce and customisation. Consumer involvement in content creation and the impact of gamification, means consumers now expect high levels of participation and response from brands. Our easy-to-use technology makes Spreadshirt well-placed to capitalise on these trends through 2012, especially in the UK”.

Spreadshirt’s UK growth has exceeded the rate outlined by the Boston Consulting Group in a recent report entitled The $4.2 Trillion Opportunity: The Internet Economy in the G-20. It puts the UK’s internet economy growth rate at 10.9% and predicts that by 2016 it will grow to £255 billion, when BCG also expects to see 3 billion internet users globally—almost half the world’s population.

Spreadshirt expects to expand into countries such as Brazil and Turkey in 2012. According to the Boston Consulting Group’s report, developing G-20 countries have 800 million internet users, more than all the developed G-20 countries combined.

London, 21 February 2012. Spreadshirt (www.spreadshirt.co.uk), the leading multi-channel clothing-commerce platform, today announces that it is joining the hunt with its latest shop partner, The Fabergé Big Egg Hunt, to produce a range of clothing to support the charities Elephant Family and Action for Children.

The Big Egg hunt, which launches on Shrove Tuesday in London, will be the most astounding and exhilarating egg hunt the city has ever seen.
Elephant Family and Action for Children are two innovative charities with boundless passion and vision who both like to think big.
The range of clothing to support the Big Egg Hunt is now available for sale via http://thebigegghunt.spreadshirt.co.uk/ where supporters of the charities can shop over 200 different designs for men, women and children.

A look at our cotton statistics: Spreadshirt’s trend report #40 / February 2012

London, 14 February 2012. February 14 has arrived again; a day to confess your love and pay lip service to the one you love. We at Spreadshirt had a closer look at over 6.7 million search requests on our t-shirt platform, and this is what we wanted to know:

Do European, American and British men stand by their women, and vice versa? And which terms of endearment did people confess to be using?

It was to be expected and probably comes as little surprise that men are not doing quite as well as women when it comes to declaring their love in public. Our best-selling “I heart” t-shirts alone were sought for some 30,000 times last year and printed 20,000 times, but their potential is still not quite exploited when it comes to paying lip service to your loved ones:

London, New York and Paris are the leading towns in our “I heart” statistics.

In 8th position we find “I heart my boyfriend”.

The corresponding “I heart my girlfriend” received almost exactly 50% less search results.

In Britain and Germany, 1 in 100 “I heart” t-shirts said that “my girlfriend loves me” – error of judgement or sound rating?

American men seem to be more awake (or loyal?) to their loved ones, because just as many men as women declare their love to each other on their t-shirts in the USA.

You could not think of a nicer way to confess your love than to use terms of endear-ment, right? A German newspaper found out that “precious” is the term most Germans use to refer to their Ingrid or Herrmann, and this is also confirmed by an 80% ratio on Spreadshirt’s t-shirt prints. “Cutie” finished a distant second, and quite a number of animal names were also very popular, probably thanks to their double meanings in German. Americans and Brits are not too fond of animal names, so we find that those German animalistic nicknames have revealed yet another beastly phenomenon of the German psyche. In Britain and America it’s all “honey”, and that didn’t come as much as a surprise either.

A final word on Valentine’s Day – we think that for every romantic woman out there, every unromantic man should make an exception (even if it’s only for a day). Come on lads, just think what mountains you could move by wearing an “I heart my girlfriend” t-shirt!!!

On Friday 9th, Spreadshirt was contacted by workers on a rig 140 miles north-east of Shetland asking if they can have a commemorative shirt. Get Around Glasgow is preparing a special version; I Survived Hurricane Bawbag OFFSHORE. (www.getaroundglasgow.spreadshirt.co.uk/)

The 8th December saw the twitter hashtag #hurricanebawbag trend worldwide as the north of the country was lashed by cold winds, which reached up to 138.5mph in the Orkney Islands. Hardy survivors can now choose from a range of designs, including up-turned umbrellas, the slogan ‘one of our trampolines is missing’ and a collection of extreme weather symbols including a limited edition pressure chart (http://weather.spreadshirt.co.uk/). Wearers can choose from a range of t-shirts, hoodies and bags in a style, colour and size to suit them.

Spreadshirt shop partners can bring their design ideas to life through white label and social media shops or the Spreadshirt market place. Print-on-demand technology means that each item of clothing is printed only when it is ordered. This removes the need for a large investment upfront, or surplus stock. Spreadshirt’s fulfilment service handles everything from production and payment to shipping and customer service for its Shop Partners.
